Mohammadia 

a city in northwestern Algeria. Population, 23, 200 (1966 census). Large railroad and highway junction. Mohammadia is the commercial and industrial center of an agricultural region (citrus fruits, grains, vegetables). Fruit juices are produced. There are railroad repair shops in the city.

The Grand Mosque of Algiers, which could cost several billion dollars, will stand on a terrain of about 20 hectares (49 acres) at Mohammadia opposite the bay of Algiers to the east of the capital, where its minaret will be 270 meters (885 feet) high.
