Moldoveanu(môldôvyä`no͞o), peak, 8,343 ft (2,543 m) high, central Romania, NW of Cîmpulung in the Transylvanian Alps; highest point in Romania.
a mountain peak in the southern Carpathians, in the Făgăraş massif, the highest point in Rumania (2,543 m). Moldoveanu is composed of crystalline rock. There are coniferous forests and alpine meadows on the slopes.
