Molin, Iurii Nikolaevich 

Born Feb. 3, 1934, in the village of Romodanovo, Romodanovo Raion, Mordovian ASSR. Soviet physical chemist. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1974). Member of the CPSU since 1973.

Molin graduated from the Moscow Physicotechnical Institute in 1957 and joined the staff of the Institute of Chemical Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR in the same year. In 1959 he joined the staff of the Institute of Chemical Kinetics and Combustion of the Siberian Division of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, and in 1971 he was named the director of the institute.

Molin’s principal works deal with the structure and reactivity of active intermediates, including complexes, excited molecules, and free radicals. He discovered the effect of a magnetic field on the rate of reaction of radicals in solution.

Molin has been awarded the Order of the October Revolution and a medal.
