Mond process: see under Mond, Ludwig Mond, Ludwig, 1839–1909, chemist; father of Alfred Moritz Mond. He was born in Germany and became a naturalized British subject. Mond experimented with alkalies and also developed a producer gas known by his name.

Mond process [′mänd ‚prä·səs]
(metallurgy)
A process for extracting and purifying nickel whereby nickel carbonyl is first formed by reaction of the reduced metal with carbon monoxide, and then the nickel carbonyl is decomposed thermally, resulting in deposition of nickel.
