Montaña de Oro State Park Location: 6 miles southwest of Morro Bay and 7 miles south of Los Osos on Pecho Road. Facilities: Primitive, environmental, and equestrian campsites, restrooms, picnic areas, trails, visitor center. Activities: Camping, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, wildlife viewing. Special Features: Park features rugged cliffs, secluded sandy beaches, coastal plains, streams, canyons, and hills, including 1,347-foot Valencia Peak. The park's name, "Mountain of Gold," comes from the golden wildflowers that bloom in spring.
