Location: 8 miles north of Half Moon Bay on Highway 1.
Facilities: Trails, beach.
Activities: Surf fishing, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, tide pool exploring.
Special Features: Beach is bounded by low hills both to the north and south. Point Montara (see separate entry) has a lighthouse with overnight accommodations. Montara Mountain, which is part of the State Beach, is a northern spur of the Santa Cruz Mountains and features the only undisturbed coastal mountain habitat found over 100 miles of coastline.
