Montebello, city (1990 pop. 59,564), Los Angeles co., S Calif., a growing residential and industrial suburb of Los Angeles; inc. 1920. A wide variety of products are manufactured in Montebello, and there are oil wells.

Montebello, village, Canada

Montebello (mŏntĭbĕl`ō), village (1991 pop. 1,022), SW Que., Canada, on the Ottawa River NE of Ottawa. It is a summer resort in a lumbering and farming area. The political leader Louis Joseph Papineau made his home there after 1854.

Launching this year's event was a somber ceremony at the multi-columned memorial in Montebello.
Museum director Philippe de Montebello said that the recently closed museum restaurant, located on the first floor at the south end of the main Fifth Avenue building, will now be overhauled and converted back to gallery space so that the Met's vast collection of classical art--considered one of the finest in the world--can again be displayed here in a new Leon Levy and Shelby White Roman Court and surrounding galleries.
