Montgomery, Edmund Duncan (1835–1911) philosopher; born in Edinburgh, Scotland. After retiring as a physician, he emigrated to the U.S.A. (1870), spending two years at a Georgia colony for resettlement of African-Americans. He then bought a plantation in Texas, where he performed research on protoplasm. His study, Philosophical Problems in the Light of Vital Organization (1907), analyzed mind and body as aspects of one underlying reality. How to thank TFD for its existence?
