Mooney unit [′mün·ē ‚yü·nət] (chemical engineering) An arbitrary unit used to measure the plasticity of raw, or unvulcanized rubber; the plasticity in Mooney units is equal to the torque, measured on an arbitrary scale, on a disk in a vessel that contains rubber at a temperature of 100°C and rotates at two revolutions per minute.
