Mortimer's Cross

Mortimer's Cross, battlefield, Herefordshire, W England, near Leominster. It was the scene of a battle (Feb. 2, 1461) in the Wars of the Roses (see Roses, Wars of the Roses, Wars of the, traditional name given to the intermittent struggle (1455–85) for the throne of England between the noble houses of York (whose badge was a white rose) and Lancaster (later associated with the red rose).

20 Bangor The Wars of the Roses battle of Mortimer's Cross was fought on February 2, 1461, near Wigmore, Herefordshire.
Opportunities were fewer in the second half as it developed into a midfield battle although Pountney looped a header over from Mortimer's cross and Nigel Niblett's header was deflected wide.
