Mosolov, Iurii Mikhailovich 

Born Oct. 17 (29), 1838, in the village of Sushchevka, in present-day Kolyshlei Raion, Penza Oblast; died after 1915, in Kharkov. Russian revolutionary, of noble descent.

A student of N. G. Chernyshevskii at the Saratov Gymnasium, Mosolov attended the University of Kazan from 1855 and the University of Moscow from 1856 to 1859. He helped organize the Library of Kazan Students in Moscow in 1856, from which a secret society was formed in 1859. In 1862 he joined Land and Liberty and headed its Moscow branch. Arrested in 1863 and held in the Peter and Paul Fortress, Mosolov was exiled to Siberia in 1866. He returned in 1870 but subsequently abandoned political activity.
