Mother Lode, belt of gold-bearing quartz veins, central Calif., along the western foothills of the Sierra Nevada. The term is sometimes limited to a strip c.70 mi (110 km) long and from 1 to 6 1-2 mi (1.6–10.5 km) wide, running NW from Mariposa. Popularly it is used to mean the gold-bearing area E of the Sacramento and San Joaquin rivers and W of the Sierra Nevada. We've already established there are smaller deposits, but you're always looking for that mother load that will pay for the infrastructure. Now that we have had some time to think about the report, mull over the potential numbers and listen to other experts, I feel one is left with a clear impression that "THIS WAS THE MOTHER LOAD FOR THE BULLS While most caches are single stage, meaning you use one set of coordinates to find the only cache, others are multistage, meaning the first set of coordinates brings you to a small cache containing the next set, and so on, up through the stages until you hit the mother load. |
