Moundsville

Moundsville, city (1990 pop. 10,753), seat of Marshall co., W.Va., in the Northern Panhandle, on the Ohio River; settled 1771, inc. 1865. Coal was once the chief industry, and some is still mined. Manufactures include asphalt, roofing materials, petroleum calcined coke, and hygiene products. There is agriculture, and livestock and poultry are raised. Moundsville is the site of the expansive Grave Creek Native American Burial Mound.

[ILLUSTRATION OMITTED] The annual Office of Law Enforcement Technology Commercialization (OLETC) mock prison riot was conducted at the site of the former West Virginia Penitentiary in Moundsville, West Virginia, 7-11 May 2007.
The PRISim(TM) judgment training simulator, featuring lethal and less-lethal weaponry, will be exclusively featured for training during two separate events: the Mock Prison Riots at Moundsville, West Virginia May 2-5 and the INIA - International Narcotics Interdiction Association show in San Diego, May 23-26.
