Forager, Mounted
a machine for field chopping straw from ricks or silage from field storage and loading the chopped material onto transport vehicles. In the USSR, foragers are mounted on 1.4-ton-force tractors, and their working members are driven from the tractor’s power-takeoff shaft. Mounted foragers can gather straw from ricks up to 5 m high; the width of the strip cleared (the length of the drum) is 1,200 mm. Productivity is 6.5 tons per hour for straw and 5.9 tons per hour for silage. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
