Middle Atlas
a mountain structure in the Atlas Mountains, in central Morocco. It consists of folded ridges whose elevations exceed 3,000 m (Mount Bou Naceur, 3,340 m) and of tableland with karst topography. The upper zone receives more than 800 mm of precipitation per year. Above 2,000 m, there is snow for up to five months of the year. The Oum er Rbia, the Sebou, and other rivers originate in the Middle Atlas Mountains. There are nut pine forests on the wet slopes and juniper and thuja forests on the dry slopes. The mountains provide the setting for the Tazzeka National Park. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
