mp3PRO
An enhanced MP3 format from Coding Technologies (www.codingtechnologies.com) that reduces an MP3 file to half its size while retaining the same sound quality. It uses Spectral Band Replication (SBR), a proprietary Coding Technologies' technique that halves the sampling rate, but encodes the missing higher frequencies at a rate of 1.5 Kbps and stores them in the auxiliary data fields of the MPEG format. See aacPlus and MP3.

SBR encodes the high frequencies and stores them in the auxiliary data fields. The decoder restores the high frequencies from the SBR data.

(audio, compression)MP3Pro - An extention of MP3 using SBR, targetting data rates of 64-96 kbps.
