A furnace with an externally heated chamber, the walls of which radiantly heat the contents of the chamber.

The composition of oil shale ashes produced in a muffle furnace at 875[degrees]C is shown in Table 5.
The 5000 AM Series alloy muffle furnaces are equipped with a corrugated alloy retort which separates the chamber refractory and heating elements from the workload and atmosphere to minimize scale and oxidation.
Before usage the magnesium sulphate was baked for 5 h at 500[degrees]C in a muffle furnace to remove possible phthalate impurities.
