Muksun
(Coregonus muksun), a semimigratory fish of the genus Coregonus of the family Salmonidae. The body is up to 75 cm long and weighs up to 8 kg. The mouth is inferior. The muksun is found in freshened coastal waters in the North Arctic Ocean (from the Pechora River to the Kolyma). It feeds on benthic crustaceans and mollusks. The fish attains sexual maturity between the ages of six and 12 years. It spawns in rivers and rocky shoals in October and November. A lake form inhabits the Taimyr Peninsula.
