Muller, Sophus Otto

    0.01 sec.
Müller, Sophus Otto

Born May 24, 1846, in Copenhagen; died there Feb. 24, 1934. Danish archaeologist.

From 1892 to 1921, Müller was director of the National Museum in Copenhagen. He excavated early Neolithic remains and implemented new techniques of excavation. With O. Montelius, he developed the periodization of the Iron and Bronze ages of Northern Europe. In his works, Müller made historical generalizations on the basis of archaeological finds, but he exaggerated the importance of the influence of the South and the East on European culture.
