Müller’s Fibers
fiberlike multiprocessed sustentacular cells of the retina of the eye; they constitute the “framework” of the retina in vertebrate animals and humans. The fibers were described by the German scientist H. Müller in 1851. Müller’s fibers are arranged radially in the retina and extend from its interior to its exterior surface. Processes of Müller’s fibers form a continuous network within which the various cells of the retina are distributed. The densely intermeshed processes of Müller’s fibers form the external and internal limiting membranes of the retina. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
