multitenancy

Having multiple occupants. It refers to software that is shared by several customers, each of which is unaware of the others. Multitenancy is often contrasted with virtualization; however, multitenancy applications can run in both virtualized and non-virtualized environments. The separation of customer data is built into the application. See also MDU.
