orthographic projection[¦ȯr·thə¦graf·ik prə′jek·shən]
A projection for displaying the poles of a crystal in which the poles are projected from a reference sphere onto an equatorial plane by dropping perpendiculars from the poles to the plane.
A perspective azimuthal projection of one hemisphere produced by straight parallel lines from any point desired from an infinite distance; it is true to scale at the center only.
A method of projection in which a three-dimensional object is represented by projecting lines perpendicular to a picture plane. See also: Projection drawing
a perspective cartographic projection. Because of considerable distortions, it is not used in cartography.
Projection in which exact views of an object are constructed by extending perpendiculars from points on the object to the plane of projection.
