Moradabad (môrədəbăd`, mōrädäbäd`), city (1991 pop. 443,701), Uttar Pradesh state, N central India. It is an important rail junction and an agricultural market center. There are industries in metalworking, electroplating, printing, sugar milling, and cotton weaving. The Jama Masjid [great mosque], built in 1631, is in the city.

Pop.: 641 240 (2001) Moradabad a city in northern India, on the right bank of the Ramganga River (a tributary of the Ganges River), in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Population, 272,400 (1971). Moradabad is a railroad junction and a center for the handicraft production of cotton fabrics and of wood and brass articles with lacquer and tin incrustation.
