Moradabad (môrədəbăd`, mōrädäbäd`), city (1991 pop. 443,701), Uttar Pradesh state, N central India. It is an important rail junction and an agricultural market center. There are industries in metalworking, electroplating, printing, sugar milling, and cotton weaving. The Jama Masjid [great mosque], built in 1631, is in the city.

Moradabad 

a city in northern India, on the right bank of the Ramganga River (a tributary of the Ganges River), in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Population, 272,400 (1971). Moradabad is a railroad junction and a center for the handicraft production of cotton fabrics and of wood and brass articles with lacquer and tin incrustation. The city, which was founded in 1625, is the site of a 17th-century Jammi Masjid (congregation mosque).

Byline: ANI Ghaziabad/ Muradabad, Sep 17 (ANI): District court lawyers at Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh continued their agitation on the third day on Thursday with a fresh call for chakka jam (roadblock), demanding separate bench of Allahabad High Court to be set up in western Uttar Pradesh.
He won with a thumping majority from Muradabad, a town in Uttar Pradesh, far removed from his home in Hyderabad.
