a river in Vinnitsa Oblast, Ukrainian SSR; a left tributary of the Dnestr. It is 163 km long and drains an area of 2,410 sq km. It originates in the Podol’e upland. It is fed by mixed sources, predominantly by snow. High water occurs in spring; there are flash floods in summer, fall, and, less often, winter.
