Murchison, Clinton (Williams) “Clint” (1895–1969) entrepreneur, oil executive; born in Athens, Texas. He made a fortune in his twenties drilling Texas oil wells; he founded the natural gas industry with Southern Union Gas Company (1929–50); and he built and ran a succession of large oil companies.
