Musabaev, Isak Kurbanovich 

Born Oct. 9(22), 1910, in the village of Naukent (now in Fergana Oblast). Soviet specialist in infectious diseases. Corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences (1961) and academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Uzbek SSR (1966); Honored Scientist of the Uzbek SSR (1955). Member of the CPSU since 1944.

Musabaev graduated from the Samarkand Medical Institute in 1935. From 1949 to 1951 he was chairman of the subdepartment of infectious diseases at the Samarkand Medical Institute. In 1951 he became chairman of the subdepartment of infectious diseases at the Tashkent Institute for the Advanced Training of Physicians. Musabaev was deputy director of science at the Tashkent Institute of Epidemiology, Microbiology, and Infectious Diseases from 1962 to 1970. His main works deal with Q fever, infectious hepatitis, diphtheria, typhoid-paratyphoid, cholera, and other infectious diseases. He elucidated the nature of the disturbances of the biochemical processes of the body in intestinal infections and influenza. He proposed a classification of the clinical forms of dysentery, cholera, and infectious hepatitis.

Musabaev has been awarded the Order of Lenin, four other orders, and medals.
