Musical Score

Musical Score

the musical accompaniment for a dramatic presentation, a film, circus performances, or radio shows. There are two types of musical scores: compilations, which consist of fragments of existing works of music (for example, excerpts from symphonic and chamber music to accompany a silent film); and music composed for a particular presentation. The musical score helps to reveal more fully various artistic images and the rhythmic organization of the action.
