Kamil, Mustafa
Born Aug. 14, 1874, in Cairo; died there Feb. 10, 1908. Figure of the Egyptian national liberation movement. Publicist and orator. Kamil was a lawyer by education. In 1900 he founded the newspaper Al-Liwa (The Banner). Kamil opposed the British occupation of Egypt. He demanded internal autonomy for Egypt within the framework of the Ottoman Empire and counted on the Turkish government’s assistance in the struggle against Great Britain.
