Mweru, Lake (mwā`r  ), c.70 mi (110 km) long and 30 mi (50 km) wide, alt. c.3,000 ft (910 m), central Africa, on the Congo-Zambia border. It is drained to the north by the Luvua River. The lake has large fisheries.Mweru, LakeFrench Lac MoeroLake, central Africa. It is located on the boundary between southeastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (Zaire) and Zambia, west of the southern tip of Lake Tanganyika. Part of the Congo River system, it is 76 mi (122 km) long and has a surface area of 1,900 sq mi (4,920 sq km). The Luapula River, a headstream of the Congo River, flows through it.
