Myles Standish State Forest

Location: In southeastern Massachusetts, across the southern sections of Plymouth and Carver; access via Rt 3 or Rt 495.
Facilities: 5 camping areas, including a section for horse camping, showers, restrooms (é), picnic area, boat ramp, hiking trails (13 miles), bicycle trails (15 miles), equestrian trails (35 miles).
Activities: Camping, boating (non-motorized), canoeing, fishing, swimming, hiking, bicycling, horseback riding, hunting (with restrictions), cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, interpretive programs (seasonal).
Special Features: Myles Standish is the largest publicly owned recreation area in southeastern Massachusetts, with 16 ponds and one of the largest contiguous pitch pine/scrub oak communities north of Long Island. Wildlife management areas within the forest are stocked with game birds in October and November. In the summer, interpretive programs such as pond shore walks, cranberry bog explorations, and fire tower tours acquaint visitors with the forest's unique natural, cultural, and historical aspects.
