Myrzabaev, Artyk 

Born May 11, 1930, in Kyzyl-Asker Raion, within the present-day city limits of Frunze. Soviet Kirghiz singer (baritone). People’s Artist of the USSR (1967).

In 1954, Myrzabaev graduated from the Kurenkeev School of Music in Frunze. In the same year he became a soloist at the Kirghiz Theater of Opera and Ballet. He possesses a voice with a beautiful timbre, a well-developed vocal technique, and dramatic talent. His best parts include Iskander in Adzhal orduna and the title role in Toktogul (both works by Vlasov, Maldybaev, and Fere), Artem in Riauzov’s Ak Shumkar, Figaro in Rossini’s The Barber of Seville, lago in Verdi’s Otello, and the title role in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin.

Myrzabaev appeared at Expo ’67 in Montreal. He has performed in China, Mongolia, Rumania, and other countries.
