NCTP
(Next Compatible Tape Product) An earlier tape drive from Philips Laser Magnetic Storage that supported legacy 3480 and 3490e cartridges as well as 18 GB NCTP cartridges. The NCTP cartridges, which used the same housing, were bright green on the bottom for easy recognition. In 1999, Philips LMS and its Colorado Springs, CO facility were acquired by Plasmon Plc of Cambridge, England, a company that provides data storage solutions, including drives and media.

The Scalar 1000 also supports other tape technologies; models are available for DLT, 3590, and NCTP drives and media.
