Neia

a city (until 1958, a settlement) under oblast jurisdiction; center of Neia Raion, Kostroma Oblast, RSFSR. Located on the right bank of the Neia River (a tributary of the Unzha). Railroad station on the Bui-Kotel’nich line. Neia is an important center of the sawmilling and wood-products industries (it has a sawmill, the Muzlesdrev Plant, and a logging and timber procurement establishment). The city also has an automotive repair plant, a creamery and cheese dairy, a flax plant, and a garment factory.

Neia

a river in Kostroma Oblast, RSFSR; right tributary of the Unzha River (Volga basin). Length, 253 km; basin area, 6,060 sq km. The Neia’s source is on the Galich rise. It is fed predominantly by snow. The average flow rate 38 km from the mouth is 45.5 cu m per sec. The river freezes in November and thaws in April. It is used for rafting timber. The city of Neia is located on the river.
