NHIN
(Nationwide Health Information Network) A set of health information exchange (HIE) protocols initiated by the U.S. Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC). The NHIN is both a public and private project. If an organization cannot entirely conform to the standard, it may use a Health Information Service Provider (HSP) to connect to the NHIN.
