Dotsenko, Nadezhda Petrovna
Born Dec. 14 (27), 1913, in the village of Shirokoe, in what is now Dnepropetrovsk Oblast. Soviet Ukrainian actress. People’s Artist of the USSR (1972). Member of the CPSU since 1952. Dotsenko has performed at the Zan’kovetskaia Zaporozh’e (now L’vov) Theater since 1936, when she graduated from the Karpenko-Karyi Kiev Institute of Theatrical Arts. Her roles have included Mavka in Lesia Ukrainka’s The Forest Song, Baiba in Rainis’ Blow, Little Breeze!, Zoia in Aliger’s Tale of Truth, and Oksana in Shevchenko’s Haidamaks. She has also appeared as Anna in Franko’s Stolen Happiness, Tat’iana in Gorky’s Smug Citizens, and Lucy Cooper in Delmar’s Make Way for Tomorrow. Dotsenko received the T. G. Shevchenko State Prize of the Ukrainian SSR in 1978 and has been awarded two orders and various medals. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
