Nakhodka (nəkhôt`kə), city (1989 pop. 160,000), Russian Far East, c.20 mi (32 km) E of Vladivostok Vladivostok , city (1989 pop. 634,000), capital of Maritime Territory (Primorsky Kray), Russian Far East, on a peninsula that extends between two bays of the Sea of Japan.

, on the Sea of Japan. A port city with fewer winter ice problems than Vladivostok, Nakhodka has assumed an increasingly large share of shipping from the Russian Far East.
Nakhodka 

a city (since 1950) under the jurisdiction of Primor’e Krai, RSFSR. It is a port on Nakhodka Bay, an arm of the Gulf of Amerika in the Sea of Japan. Population, 116,000 (1973; 64,000 in 1959). Nakhodka is a major transportation and fishing center of the Soviet Far East. It has a railroad station, a shipyard, a fish-processing combine, and factories that produce tin cans and reinforced-concrete products. The city also has a navigation school, a motion-picture technicum, and a music school.


Nakhodka 

a bay in the Gulf of Amerika off the northwestern coast of the Sea of Japan, in Primor’e Krai, RSFSR. It is 4.6km long and 1.8km wide. Much of the bay freezes in winter. Nakhodka Seaport is located on the bay.


Nakhodka 

a bay off the western coast of Ob’ Bay in the Yamal-Nenets National Okrug (Tiumen’ Oblast, RSFSR). Nakhodka Bay juts inland for 9km; it is shallow and at ebb tide a strip of sand and silt up to 2–3km wide is uncovered. The water is fresh. The bay is accessible to river boats.
