Nairi
a region north of Assyria in the basins of Lakes Urmia and Van. Nairi was mentioned in Assyrian inscriptions from the time of King Tukulti-Ninurta I (c. 13th century B.C.) until the time of Sargon II (722–705 B.C.). The kingdom of Urartu occupied approximately the same territory as that occupied by Nairi. REFERENCEPiotrovskii, B. B. Vanskoe tsarsto (Urartu). Moscow, 1959.Want to thank TFD for its existence?
