Naphthalan Ointment

a medicinal preparation consisting of 70 parts naphthalan naphtha, 18 parts paraffin, and 12 parts petrolatum. The principal active ingredient is naphthalan naphtha. Naphthalan ointment is an emollient, disinfectant, and analgesic and is applied directly to the skin and mucous membranes. It is used in ointment, cream, or suppository form with diseases of the skin, muscles and joints, and the peripheral nervous system, among others.
