Naruhito, 1960–, Japanese crown prince, son of Akihito Akihito , 1933–, emperor of Japan (1989–). As crown prince, he traveled widely, visiting Great Britain, Canada, the United States, and many countries of Asia and South America. Like his father, Hirohito, Akihito is an accomplished amateur marine biologist.

Tokyo will ask Japan's Crown Prince Naruhito and Princess Masako to help its bid to host the 2016 Summer Olympics, matching stars lined up by other candidate cities, the capital's governor said Thursday.
Masako and Naruhito have one child, seven-year-old Princess Aiko, while his younger brother has a two-year-old boy, the first prince born to the royal family in 40 years.
He will meet Emperor Akihito and Crown Prince Naruhito and hold talks with senior government officials on how to develop ties to confront economic challenges.
