a city in W India, in Maharashtra: a centre for Hindu pilgrims. Pop.: 1 076 967 (2001)

Nasik 

a city in India, in the state of Maharashtra; situated on the upper Godavari River, 155 km northeast of Bombay. Population, 176,200 (1971). Railroad station. There is production of industrial alcohol and cottage production of copper and brass ware in Nasik. The city also has a government printing house. Nasik is a religious center; ancient Buddhist temples and monasteries are located nearby.
