In northeastern corner of FL, north of Jacksonville; organized Dec 29, 1824 (prior to statehood) from Duval County. Name Origin: For the Nassau River, which forms part of the northern border of the county, and Nassau Sound; named for the duchy in Germany associated with the House of Orange
