(computer science)
A computer language whose rules reflect and describe current rather than prescribed usage; it is often loose and ambiguous in interpretation, meaning different things to different hearers.

(application)natural language - A language spoken or written by humans, as opposed to a language use to program or communicate with computers. Natural language understanding is one of the hardest problems of artificial intelligence due to the complexity, irregularity and diversity of human language and the philosophical problems of meaning.

SER's inventions use natural speech recognition combined with business rules to analyze customer conversations, transforming the spoken word to retrievable data.
Although participants reported no awareness of these fleeting pauses, such cues made the speech stream more similar to the rhythm and intonations of natural speech, Mehler asserts.
Synthetic speech is used in two ways by disabled people: as a replacement for natural speech and as a means of communicating complex information to people who cannot receive it by other means, such as blind computer users.
