Negombo

Negombo (nāgōm`bō), town (1991 est. pop. 65,000) W Sri Lanka, at the mouth of the Negombo Lagoon. Chiefly noted for its ceramics and brassware, it is also a fishing center and a market for coconut products and cinnamon. Many 17th-century Dutch buildings remain. Sri Lanka's major international airport is on the outskirts of Negombo.
Negombo 

a port city on the western coast of Sri Lanka. Population, 53,000 (1968). The city is a transportation junction, as well as a center for trade and handicrafts. Fish and seafood are commercially caught in nearby waters. Negombo is also a health resort.
