Neiva 

a city in Colombia, located on the Magdalena River; capital of the department of Huila. Population, 121,000 (1971). Linked by rail to Bogotá, Neiva is the center of an agricultural region, where coffee and rice are grown; the city also produces textiles.


Neiva 

a river in Sverdlovsk Oblast, RSFSR, left arm of the Nitsa River (Ob’ basin). Length, 294 km; basin area, 5,600 sq km. The Neiva rises on the east slope of the Central Urals. In the upper course are a number of lakes and reservoirs with a total area of 72.4 sq km; the lower course is on the Western Siberian Plain. The river is fed chiefly by snow. Average rate of flow at Alapaevsk is approximately 10 cu m per sec. The Neiva freezes in November and thaws in April. It is used as a water supply. The cities of Nev’iansk and Alapaevsk are on the Neiva.
