Nematosporoideae [¦nem·əd·ō·spə′rȯid·ē‚ē]

(botany)

A subfamily of the Saccharomycetaceae containing parasitic yeasts; two genera have been studied in culture:Nematosporawith asci that contain eight spindle-shaped ascospores, andMetschnikowiawhose asci contain one or two needle-shaped ascospores.
