The neo-Gothic palace is 268 m long and its dome is 96 m high.
A winning narrative and well-rounded, entertaining characters make this a fitting addition to the Neo-Gothic library.
Unlike the Oxbridge colleges, ordinary bricks and terracotta dressings were used for the neo-Gothic exterior, leading to the phrase "red brick university", coined by Edgar Allison Peers, a Liverpool professor of Spanish.
