NetBIOS |
Also found in: Acronyms, Wikipedia | 0.04 sec. |
NetBIOSThe original networking protocol for DOS and Windows PCs. NetBIOS packets did not contain a network address and were not easily routable between networks. As a result, the interface to NetBIOS and the transport part of NetBIOS were later separated so that NetBIOS applications could use routable protocols such as TCP/IP and SPX/IPX. The programming interface (API) retained the NetBIOS name, while the transport protocol was renamed NetBEUI (pronounced "net-boo-ee").

New supported protocols include: Windows file share drag and drop, static ports, dynamic ports, FTP, UDP, ICMP, and NetBIOS. With the ever-increasing diversity of organizations, connectivity can be a challenge, so CrossTec Remote v10 allows for connections over a traditional LAN/WAN utilizing TCP/IP, IPX, NetBIOS or modems and also provides an Internet gateway for communications between firewalled remote sites. HyperIP is qualified with industry-leading data replication products like: EMC SRDF Adaptive Copy and SRDF/A on Gigabit Ethernet Directors, Network Appliance SnapMirror and SnapVault, Veritas Volume Replicator and Replicator Exec, IBM Tivoli Storage Manager, Microsoft Exchange NetBIOS, Oracle DataGuard and DB Rsync, NSI Double-Take, Maranti CoreStor Replication and industry-standard FTP. |
