Neuquén 

a province in western Argentina. Area, 94,100 sq km. Population, 155,000 (1970). The capital is the city of Neuquén. Irrigated lands produce fruits, vegetables, and grapes. Livestock is raised on pasturelands in the mountains. Oil and natural gas are extracted in the province, and industries include food processing and petroleum retining.
