Neurs
(in Greek, Neuroi), ancient tribes that, according to Herodotus, lived north of the Scythian cultivators in the sixth and fifth centuries B.C. The lands of the Neurs are assumed to have been located on the upper course of the Dnestr and the Iuzhnyi Bug and in the Pripiat’ basin. P. J. Šafařik, L. Niederle, and other scholars considered the Neurs to be the ancestors of the Slavs. REFERENCETret’iakov, P. N. Vostochnoslavianskie plemena, 2nd ed.
