Neustrelitz

Neustrelitz (noi'shtrā`lĭts), city (1994 pop. 25,194), Mecklenburg–West Pomerania, N Germany. It is a transportation center and has metalworks, publishing houses, and wood mills. Neustrelitz was founded (1733) as the capital of Mecklenburg-Strelitz after the earlier ducal residence at nearby Strelitz had burned down (1712).

a city in the German Democratic Republic, in Neubrandenburg District, on the Zierker See (in the vicinity of the upper Havel River). Population, 30,600 (1972). Railroad junction; river port. Industries include food processing, wood-working, and machine building.
